Uniqlo is making significant strides in expanding its presence in California and other markets as part of its accelerated growth strategy in the United States.

The Japanese apparel giant is set to open 11 new stores in Texas and California in 2024, as part of its plan to open over 20 new stores in North America this year. These new locations will mark the brand’s first-ever stores in Texas, specifically in the Houston and Dallas markets, as well as its first outposts in San Diego and Sacramento, California.

This expansion aligns with Uniqlo’s ambitious goal of reaching 200 stores in North America by 2027, focusing on both regions where the brand already has a presence and new markets across the country. With 74 stores currently in operation across North America, the upcoming openings will further solidify Uniqlo’s position in the apparel market.

Yoshihide Shindo, CEO of Uniqlo USA, expressed excitement about the brand’s expansion into Texas, citing positive customer demand in the state where Uniqlo’s products can cater to diverse lifestyles and climates. The company also reaffirmed its commitment to the West Coast, where strong customer interest has been observed, especially in e-commerce.

Uniqlo’s North America business saw a profit in fiscal year 2022, followed by significant growth in the fiscal year ending on August 31, 2023, reflecting the rising brand awareness in the U.S.

Some of the new Uniqlo store openings scheduled for 2024 include Memorial City Mall and First Colony Mall in Texas, and Arden Fair and Westfield Galleria in California. Uniqlo, which operates more than 2,400 stores globally, is a subsidiary of Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., based in Tokyo, Japan. Fast Retailing reported global sales of approximately .92 billion for the 2023 fiscal year, solidifying its position as one of the world’s largest apparel retail companies.
