Groundbreaking celebrations were held today for Gateway at the Green, a new 72-unit apartment community located on Webb Road near Haywood Mall. Partners such as Greenville Housing Fund, Gateway Development, and Creative Builders joined forces to bring this all-affordable development to a convenient location close to various businesses and transit connections.
Gateway at the Green will feature three residential buildings with energy-efficient units ranging from one to three bedrooms. The complex will also include a clubhouse with amenities such as laundry facilities, a computer lab, a fitness room, and a community gathering space. Leasing is expected to begin in late summer 2025.
President and CEO of Greenville Housing Fund, Bryan Brown, emphasized the significance of this development in providing deeply affordable housing options for individuals and families earning between 20% and 60% of Greenville’s area median income. The financing for Gateway at the Green was made possible through the 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program by SC Housing, showcasing their commitment to increasing affordable housing opportunities in the area.
The construction kick-off event saw speeches from Todd Latiff, SC Housing Board Chairman, Josh Mandell from Gateway Development, and Vice Mayor Pro Tem Dorothy Dowe, highlighting the City of Greenville’s efforts in creating and preserving affordable housing options. The general contractor, Creative Builders, led by President Will McCauley, will oversee the construction of Gateway at the Green.
With its prime location and focus on affordability, Gateway at the Green aims to meet the growing demand for affordable housing options in the Upstate region.
