Seattle Area Feline Rescue Hosts ‘Kitten Shower’ Fundraiser to Support Abandoned Kittens
Seattle, WA — In response to the seasonal surge of kittens known as “kitten season,” the Seattle Area Feline Rescue (SAFe) will host a unique fundraising event titled the “Kitten Shower” on March 22. This initiative aims to raise funds and gather resources for mother cats and their litters, providing them with the necessary care as they transition to loving homes.
The event is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at SAFe’s Shoreline location. This gathering, akin to a traditional baby shower, will feature various activities designed for animal lovers of all ages. Attendees will not only have the opportunity to engage with kittens but also partake in events such as kitten trivia, refreshments, and a dedicated kitten petting room.
As kitten season approaches, animal rescue organizations often experience an increase in the number of abandoned and surrendered cats and litters. Lindsey Neblina, the outreach coordinator for SAFe, emphasizes the importance of this event, stating, “Every spring, numerous kittens emerge needing immediate care and resources. Our goal is to rally community support to address this heartbreaking situation.”
The Seattle Area Feline Rescue has established registries with both Chewy and Amazon for vital supplies that are crucial for the welfare of these animals. Participants and community members are encouraged to contribute to these registries ahead of the event.
A visit to the Kitten Shower will include interactive donations for activities. For instance, access to the kitten petting room is set at for individuals and for families, with limitations to ensure a manageable and safe interaction between guests and the kittens. Other fundraising activities will feature a kitten naming contest, with a fee of per name, and a guessing game for the number of toys in an incubator, priced at per guess. All proceeds from these activities will directly support SAFe’s ongoing efforts.
As part of the event’s outreach, Neblina showcased two adorable 10-week-old kittens, Willow and Ember, during a recent segment on KING 5 Weekend Mornings. These kittens, along with many others, are eagerly seeking foster homes or adoptive families.
Moreover, Neblina brought attention to available resources for affordable spaying and neutering, which play a critical role in mitigating the overwhelming number of kittens born each season. By addressing the root cause of the surplus, SAFe aims to create a sustainable change and promote responsible pet ownership in the community.
The Seattle Area Feline Rescue is located at 20226 Ballinger Way NE and invites all kitten enthusiasts to participate in the Kitten Shower to contribute to this vital cause.
