The 77th Cannes Film Festival is coming to a close with the highly anticipated prize ceremony taking place inside the Grand Théâtre Lumière this evening. Despite a somewhat subdued start under gloomy skies, the past 10 days have seen the emergence of several potential winners. This year’s lineup has prominently featured women in many of the most talked-about films.

Movies like “Emilia Perez”, “The Substance” (starring Demi Moore in her competition debut), “Anora”, “All We Imagine as Light”, “Caught By the Tides”, “The Girl with the Needle”, “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”, and “Beating Hearts” have all garnered praise for placing women at the center of their narratives.

Other notable titles include the Donald Trump origin story “The Apprentice” with Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, and “Limonov: The Ballad” by Kirill Serebrennikov starring Ben Whishaw.

Veteran filmmakers like Francis Ford Coppola with “Megalopolis”, Andrea Arnold with “Bird”, Paul Schrader with “Oh Canada”, David Cronenberg with “The Shrouds”, and Paolo Sorrentino with “Parthenope” have also left their mark on this year’s festival.

The Cannes jury’s president this year is “Barbie” filmmaker Greta Gerwig, and the winners of the festival’s awards are eagerly awaited. Stay tuned as we update the list of laureates below:
