In 2009, the 62nd Cannes Film Festival made history by opening with Disney-Pixar’s groundbreaking 3D film, ‘Up’. This marked the first time that an animated movie or a 3D film had been chosen to kick off the prestigious event. ‘Up’ was one of eight Out-of-Competition films showcased that year, representing Disney-Pixar Studios’ tenth feature-length project.
The film went on to receive critical acclaim, ultimately winning two Oscars for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score. Fast forward to 2024, and we can still appreciate the impact that ‘Up’ had on the world of cinema. Its captivating storytelling and innovative use of 3D technology continue to be celebrated by audiences worldwide.
