SimpliFed Secures Million Investment to Enhance Virtual Maternal Healthcare
SimpliFed, a pioneering platform in virtual maternal healthcare, has successfully raised million in a recent funding round. Led by Morningside, this investment also saw participation from a variety of new and existing investors, including The Artemis Fund, Cultivation Capital, American Heart Association Social Impact Funds, The Venture Collective, Empire State Development, and Waterline Ventures. This influx of capital will allow SimpliFed to evolve its services, transitioning from a basic care solution to a comprehensive maternal care technology platform, supported by its advanced Maternal Health Operating System (mOS).
The innovative mOS serves as the backbone of SimpliFed’s approach, emphasizing consistent, supportive engagement with patients throughout their pregnancy and postpartum periods. This model aims to cultivate a personalized experience centered predominantly around baby feeding, which is critical to maternal health. SimpliFed has successfully reached patients across more than 300 health systems, independent healthcare practices, and health plans, fostering trusted relationships that not only enhance care delivery but also lead to improved maternal health outcomes.
Statistical evidence underscores SimpliFed’s positive impact; the platform reports that most of its clients continue to breastfeed at the three-month mark, notably higher than the national average of 69%. Furthermore, an impressive 92% of participants reported decreased levels of stress and anxiety regarding baby feeding, highlighting the platform’s effectiveness in addressing the emotional aspects of care.
The latest funding will enable SimpliFed to broaden its offerings, which now include virtual high-risk monitoring and mental health screening, reflecting its commitment to integrative care. The company aims to collaborate with a range of provider partners to ensure that high-quality maternal mental healthcare is accessible to those in need.
SimpliFed’s mOS integrates pioneering technology to streamline the healthcare experience for both patients and providers. Features such as white-labeling options for partner organizations, a robust developer interface with over 90 APIs, and seamless EMR integrations with systems like Epic, eClinicalWorks, and Athena facilitate an intuitive user experience. This technological framework is designed to reduce the burden on healthcare providers while ensuring that patients receive timely and efficient access to necessary services.
Industry Perspectives
Diana Murakhovskaya, General Partner at The Artemis Fund, remarked, “SimpliFed is reshaping maternal health by expanding access, addressing inequities, and delivering measurable results. We believe in the power of technology to ease the demands of caregiving and empower families to thrive. Scalable solutions that improve maternal health and alleviate strain on the healthcare system are critical, and we’re proud to support Andrea and SimpliFed on this important journey.”
SimpliFed’s CEO and Founder, Andrea Ippolito, emphasized the urgency of their mission, noting, “Over the past decade, the rate of postpartum depression and preeclampsia has doubled, and still only 25% of women are reaching baby feeding medical recommendations alongside their personal goals. The health and well-being of a parent is deeply connected to baby feeding, and we are steadfastly dedicated to changing the model and providing comprehensive care for each family.”
Stephen Bruso, Board Member and Investor at Morningside, concluded, “SimpliFed has made incredible progress on their mission to materially impact maternal health outcomes on a national scale, and we are glad to continue partnering with Andrea and the rest of the team as they expand the scale and scope of their interventions.”
As the healthcare industry increasingly prioritizes maternal health, SimpliFed stands out as a transformative force, aiming to improve outcomes for families nationwide while fostering a more inclusive healthcare system.
