Apple has introduced Final Cut Pro 2 for iPad, bringing Live Multicam functionality to transform your iPad into a production studio. With Live Multicam, you can connect up to four iPhone or iPad cameras to capture different angles of a scene, with real-time director’s view of each camera. Adjust exposure, focus, and zoom settings for each camera feed, with editable preview clips passed through to Final Cut Pro for iPad for editing.

Supporting Live Multicam is the new video capture app Final Cut Camera for iPhones and iPads, enabling live monitoring and control of each video feed. Adjust white balance, manual focus, ISO, and shutter speed, with tools like zebras and focus peaking for monitoring recordings.

Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 now supports external projects, allowing for project creation or opening on external storage devices and importing media without taking up space on the iPad. Import high-resolution files and professional codecs like ProRes and Log, and quickly hand off projects to another editor or take them into Final Cut Pro for Mac.

With the new M4 chip on the iPad Pro, final rendering in Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 is up to 2x faster, supporting 4x more streams of ProRes RAW than with M1. Enjoy 12 new color-grading presets, basic text titles, and soundtracks, with compatibility with the new Apple Pencil Pro for Live Drawing features.

In Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8, new AI features and organizational tools are introduced, with Enhance Light and Color for color improvements in a single step. Smooth Slo-Mo intelligently generates and blends frames for high-quality slow-motion results.

Enhancements in post-production workflows include customizable names for color corrections and video effects, dragging effects between clips, searching and navigating clips with missing media or effects, and a text-based timeline search with detailed information.

Overall, the upgrades to Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 bring efficiency and speed improvements to editing workflows. Existing users can upgrade for free, with new users eligible for free trials before purchasing the apps. Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 will be available later this spring, Final Cut Camera will be available for free, and Final Cut Pro for Mac 10.8 will be a free update for existing users or priced at 9 for new users with a free 90-day trial.
