The 26th Annual Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham is breaking new ground with its lineup this year. For the first time ever, the festival will kick off with a slate of six films all directed by, led by, and focused on women. The films include “Chaperone” directed by Zoe Eisenberg, “No One Asked You” directed by Ruth Leitman, “A Song for Imogene” directed by Erika Arlee, “Maya and the Wave” directed by Stephanie Johnes, “The World According to Allee Willis” directed by Alexis Spraic, and “Welcome Space Brothers” directed by Jodi Wille.
Sidewalk Film Festival has been recognized as one of the “Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by Moviemaker magazine. This year, the festival will run from August 19-25 at various venues in and around Birmingham. Executive Director of Sidewalk Film Center + Cinema, Chloe Cook, expressed excitement about the lineup, stating, “Our event has become renowned for its commitment to showcasing diverse voices and stories. This year’s selection continues that tradition by offering a compelling glimpse into the world of women-led filmmaking. From powerful documentaries to compelling narratives, each film brings its own unique perspective that promises to engage, inspire, and excite viewers.”
