Service Between United States and Cuba Restored

Western Union, in collaboration with its processing partner Orbit S.A., has officially announced the resumption of its money transfer service from the United States to Cuba. This service is set to take effect immediately.

With the reinstatement of this service, Western Union customers can once again send money from any U.S. retail location, WesternUnion.com, or the Western mobile app to their close family members in Cuba who hold bank and debit card accounts at specific banks in Cuba, including Banco Popular de Ahorro, Banco Metropolitano S.A., and Banco de Credito y Comercio (Bandec).

– Customers in the United States can send up to USD 2,000.00 per transaction, with valid government-issued identification required.

– The service is specifically available to recipients with Carnet de Identidad IDs and bank and/or debit card accounts at the aforementioned banks in Cuba.
– Deposits to Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) accounts are only available in U.S. dollars.
