German music company BMG is set to host The New Black Festival, a vibrant celebration of Music, Literature, and Culture that highlights the Black community in Germany. This multi-disciplinary event will bring together artists and creatives in Berlin for a festival focusing on music, art, literature, and fashion.

The lineup for the 2024 edition of The New Black Festival includes a reading by Melanie Raabe, a panel discussion on “Black Leadership in Germany’s Cultural Institutions” featuring prominent figures such as Yolanda Kaddu-Mulindwa, Keith Bernard Stonum, Julia Wissert, Dr. Daniele G. Daude, and Dr. Yvette Mutumba. Attendees can also enjoy performances by London-based jazz and hip-hop musician Alfa Mist, the West African musicians collective Les Amazones d’Afrique, and German rapper Afrob.

The festival will kick off with a dinner hosted by BMG at the Theater des Westens, paying homage to the historic venue where the legendary Black dancer Josephine Baker once performed. This event serves as a preview for the rest of the festival and sets the tone for an exciting celebration.

“The New Black Festival goes beyond just being a festival; it aims to showcase the creative energy and potential of the Black community in Germany and beyond. We are excited to create a unique atmosphere with international artists and visitors in Berlin,” said Pierrot Raschdorff, Senior Director of Global Diversity, Sustainability & Transformation at BMG.

Dominique Casimir, Chief Content Officer at BMG, added, “The New Black Festival exemplifies our ongoing commitment to diversity and equality. By uniting art, literature, and culture, we are providing a platform to advance the dialogue on the diversity and uniqueness of Black creativity.”

This event promises to be a dynamic and inclusive celebration of Black culture and creativity in Germany, highlighting the rich contributions of the Black community to the country’s cultural landscape.
